Structural Integration

What is Structural Integration?

Structural Integration is a hands-on therapy designed to improve posture, movement, and overall body alignment by working with the body's connective tissue, or fascia. Over time, injuries, repetitive movements, poor posture, and everyday stress can create restrictions within this tissue, causing the body to compensate in ways that lead to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.

By releasing these restrictions and restoring balance throughout the body, Structural Integration helps you move with greater ease, efficiency, and comfort.

How It Works

Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports every muscle, bone, organ, nerve, and joint in the body. When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can pull the body out of alignment and limit natural movement.

Using precise manual techniques, Michael works with the fascial system to release tension, improve mobility, and encourage the body to return to a more balanced and efficient posture. Rather than focusing on a single area of discomfort, Structural Integration considers how the entire body works together.

Benefits of Structural Integration

Many clients seek Structural Integration to help with:

  • Chronic neck and back pain
  • Shoulder and hip discomfort
  • Poor posture
  • Limited flexibility or mobility
  • Repetitive strain injuries
  • Sports-related injuries
  • Joint stiffness
  • Chronic muscle tension
  • Improved athletic performance and recovery

Each treatment is personalized to address your unique movement patterns and areas of restriction.

Looking Beyond the Symptoms

Pain is often a result of compensation elsewhere in the body. For example, discomfort in the shoulder may begin with restrictions in the hips or feet, while recurring low back pain may be influenced by postural imbalances throughout the entire body.

Structural Integration focuses on identifying these patterns and restoring balance, helping address the source of dysfunction rather than simply treating the symptoms.

What to Expect During Your Session

Your first session begins with a conversation about your health history, lifestyle, and treatment goals. Michael will also observe your posture and movement to identify areas where the body may be compensating.

Treatment involves hands-on work to release fascial restrictions and improve alignment. Pressure is always adjusted to your comfort level, and sessions are designed to encourage lasting changes rather than temporary relief.

Many clients notice improvements in posture, flexibility, breathing, and overall ease of movement following treatment.

Move More Freely

Whether you're recovering from an injury, dealing with chronic pain, or simply looking to improve the way your body moves, Structural Integration can help restore balance and support your body's natural ability to function at its best.

“I've been working with Michael for over a year. His work with structural integration has been insanely helpful as I've gone through a lot of healing the last few years. The first session was especially shocking considering how gentle the treatment is. A lot of my shoulder tension was relieved immediately and we've since done many "tune-ups" that address issues in my body as they arise. He has also recommended to me many other treatments for my feet, neck, and general health that have been also extremely effective.” ~ Lizzy M
